History of IAS
The International American School of Cancun, Mexico as founded in 1990.
IAS is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational institution offering a bilingual, bicultural education for students from preschool through high school dedicated to an American style education, high academic standards and the caring environment a small school can offer.
IAS offers a dual academic program, enabling students to earn both U.S. and Mexican diplomas.
The curriculum is bilingual, with instruction in English and Spanish. In preschool through Grade 6, the program is evenly split between the two languages, while in Grades 7–12, instruction is approximately 80% in English and 20% in Spanish.
Graduating students receive an American High School diploma through our accredition by Cognia (SACS/AdvancED) and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) as well as fulfillment of Mexican preparatoria by way of Mexico’s Ministry of Education (SEP) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) .
