Faculty
The International American School of Cancun employs a highly qualified professional staff, comprising educators from the United States, Mexico, England, and Canada. Notably, 33% of the faculty members possess advanced degrees. These educators contribute to the school’s mission of providing an American educational model within a bilingual and bicultural environment. The school’s diverse staff, comprising both permanent residents of Cancun and those with shorter time commitments, along with a wide range of ages and experiences, fosters a professional atmosphere conducive to open idea exchange and the effective addressing of challenges and goals through innovative approaches.

Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered this year in 11th-grade Spanish Literature and Culture and 12th-grade English Literature. Considering the limited size of each grade level (maximum 25 students), staff requirements, and the diverse needs and interests of individual students, there is some variation in AP programming from year to year. Additional opportunities for supervised independent studies and honors classes are available to prepare students for AP exams. Over the past five years, small groups of students have also taken exams in Spanish Language and Culture, French Language and Culture, Psychology, Environmental Science, and U.S. History. Notably, 82% of the Class of 2019 successfully passed at least one AP exam.
